Partners

The primary goal of the community early childhood council is to build innovative, collaborative partnerships that promote school readiness for children and families. As a vehicle for bringing together community members to support issues of importance to children and families, CECCs have a long history of success at supporting school readiness by responding to the unique needs of their own communities. These Councils bring local partners together, identify local needs, develop strategies to address those needs, and measure their results. In these pages, partners will find tools and resources to help them mobilize and improve their communities.

The Madison County School District serves more than 10,000 students in Preschool through the 12th grade. Our district’s Early Childhood Program serves about 350 pre-schoolers. We also operate the Madison County Day Treatment Center, Madison County Secondary GED Program, Middle College at EKU, and 12 Family/Youth Resource Centers that serve our students and their families. We are continually working to improve the instructional program in our school system. Our students receive a well-rounded educational experience.

The Community Action Council is a well-established, experienced and successful provider of Head Start services in Kentucky. Since its inception in 1965, the Council has been continuously operating Head Start for families in its Central Kentucky service area. In 1997 the Council began providing Early Head Start services for infants, toddlers and pregnant women, and in 2002, the Council became the statewide program operator for Kentucky’s Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Program, which serves children from farm-working families. Lastly, beginning in 2015, the Council began operating an Early Head Start - Child Care Partnership, enabling it to work closely with community-based child care providers to improve local early learning outcomes. With the addition of SCHS, the Council now operates Head Start-funded  services in 19 counties across Kentucky.

The Berea RTC is one of five Early Childhood Regional Training Centers that assist local school districts and other service providers targeting special needs and economically at-risk children, ages three to five, in the implementation of preschool programs that nurture the philosophy of school readiness.

Berea Independent Schools offers a preschool program to three and four year old children who meet the eligibility requirements and reside within the Berea school district. We service approximately 65-80 students annually and target students of all ability levels. Our preschool is a 5-STAR rated early childhood program steeped in developmentally appropriate practices/instruction. We have a strong focus on continual improvement and strive to meet the individual needs of all learners. We are "kid driven" and always "aim high and dare to be great"!

Our mission is to ensure all Appalachian students succeed, and we pursue it using four interconnected strategies: Lifting Educational Aspirations, Building Academic Skills, Connecting College and Career, and Engaging Families. To support these strategies, we braid services and align funding streams — leveraging $42.9 million each year — to optimize results for over 50,000 young people and their families.
